As told by BROZ CO JG-27 AFRIKA:

"First off I should give the short story for any new recruits that are interested. After flying with JG 51 for some time, I have decided to leave that squad and start my own. This was a tough decision as my time with JG 51 has been the most enjoyable time I have spent in WB´s. The reason I´m doing so is that I feel there are too few JG´s in the sim and want to change that. My squad will be JG 27. If you don´t know the history of JG 27, look it up. To start with, I´m looking for a Marseille. I need an experienced pilot that is a real killer. I would prefer someone from one of the allied squads who wants a change. However, I will take anyone with experience, except I do not wish to recruit from within existing JG´s, otherwise I would ask my long-time wingman Thor to be my XO. Whoever steps up to be the Marseille of the squad will by my XO. After finding my XO we will recruit from anywhere we can, including pilots with absolutely no experience. We will train our pilots to form a cohesive unit that can operate in any S3 flying any axis aircraft. WB´s needs more axis fliers. The fact that there are only two JG´s is a disgrace to the sim. If you would like to change this, whether you have experience or not, PM me. We will get things started. That´s the short story.

Now for the long story. I suppose you should know who I am, and how I got to this point.

I don´t quite know where to start. I guess I will start from the beginning. I used to fly for JG27 back in the late 90´s. I think I started flying in 1997 and stopped flying somewhere around 1998/99. My handle back then was hetzen. I flew in scenario lights, regular scenarios, and later I flew in S3´s. I believe I flew in the first S3. The S3 stats has my old handle listed, but please do not look at them Wink. I had a respectable score with JG27, despite what the S3 stats say about me. I left soon after the S3´s started. As a matter of fact, I think I only flew in one S3 before I left for Marine OCS.

When I came back to WB´s about a year and a half ago, I looked up JG27. Apparently it had been disbanded. Also, it appeared WB´s had some good competitors and was shrinking in population. To my dismay, I not only found that JG27 no longer existed, but that only a handful of JG´s were in existence. I first linked up with JG3 in an EMC. I scored a kill on a spitfire my first time back. They invited me to join, but their time zone didn´t match with mine as they are a Euro squad and I´m in the U.S. I then met up with some JG 51 squad members. I asked to join their squad. Those that know me and JG 51 know my record.

I certainly am not the greatest fighter pilot. I think I have some of the worst gunnery scores in all of WB´s. I believe I make up for that in my ability to plan ahead, and fly aggressively. I have flown on several occasions where I have been completely outnumbered and still came out ahead. Some members of the 4th fighter group know this. Ask Pappyb. Myself and some of his squad mates had a good fight that I´ll remember forever.

The bottom line is this, I want to see more JG´s in the game. I want to see more JG´s flying the S3´s. I love JG 51 and would be happy to never leave them, except JG 51 and JG 2 are the only JG´s flying S3´s. That is unacceptable. I cannot stand by in my complacent happiness and accept the fact that there only two JG´s flying in what I consider the best WWII sim around. It´s a disgrace. So, I have decided to leave JG 51. My goal is to gather new pilots, train them in axis aircraft and tactics, and introduce them to S3´s. I have decided that I will re-create JG 27, my old squad. Those of you that know your history know that JG 27 is the wing of the “Star of Afrika,” Hans-Joachim Marseille. I certainly am no Marseille."
